Postcard Friendship Friday ~ My Hometown Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada

Thought I would share a bit of my hometown Port Colborne, Ontario, Canada with you this week for Postcard Friendship Friday. Enjoy and hope you will all come and visit some day!

Port Colborne's Street of Ships

Lakers, fishing tugs, luxurious private yachts and Salties from around the world pass right through the heart of Port Colborne while pedestrians stroll among the bars, boutiques and bistros of historic West Street.

Sugarloaf Harbour

Tall ships, luxury yachts and paddle boats find refuge in Sugarloaf Harbour, Port Colborne's premier waterfront development. Even non-boaters can enjoy the view and ambience from the balcony of the dockside restaurant, The Upper Deck.

The CSL "Niagara"
The largest-ever Canadian ship built for the Great Lakes ~ St. Lawrence, approaches downtown Port Colborne. A few hours earlier this same ship was honoured as the 1st upbound ship to enter the Welland Canal at the start of the 2000 navigation season.

Gateway to Niagara

The Port Colborne Lighthouse, a comforting sight for mariners of Lake Erie, stands as the Gateway to the Welland Canal, the Sugarloaf Marina and beautiful Niagara.

The romantic seaside setting of West Street, Port Colborne comes alive with tourists by the thousands during Canal Days every summer.

The Annual Boat Parade of Lights

Led by Buffalo's 100 year old Fire-boat the "Edward M Cotter" is framed by spectacular Fireworks during Port Colborne's Canal Days Festival.

All postcards were photographed and distributed by Thies Bogner MPA,FPPO. (Master Photographer) Welland, Onatrio.

It is just beautiful and to have that in your own backyard! Wow! Did you actually live close to the water or more inland? That makes the Mississippi River by my neck of the woods look like a little trickle!

Hi Debby!
Happy Postcard Friendship Friday and what lovely "postcards"! And many thanks for stopping by my place with the follower link! Most appreciated!

What a beautiful place Port Colborn is - I've really enjoyed my visit! Incidentally, I travelled across Canada as a student by Greyhound (still got the sore derriere as proof!) and loved going through Ontario. Such an interesting province!

Will be back again to read through yr earlier posts!

Hope you have a wonderful weekend -look forward to seeing you again soon!

It must be interesting to see so many ships all the time.

I got a funny word verification this time: "frienrat."

the photos are wonderful! I will have to check out where this city is on the maps. It is my goal in life to live along the Great Lakes one day (may be sooner than later)!

Oooops! I actually did comment on Friday! I wonder if typed in the verification code incorrectly!

I know and LOVE your town! I lived in Buffalo with my college boyfriend one summer! We toured this whole area and had a magical time! This brings back such intense memories. Alas, it didn't work out with sweet Mick.... I was only crazy in love with his thick New York accent.. I guess that isn't enough to build a relationship on:) It is so wild to know that this is where you live now! Seeing these cards makes me feel close to you Debby!

How VERY beautiful!

I'm sorry I am coming by so late for Postcard Friendship Friday. My parents were involved in a roll-over accident on the freeway last Monday. Miraculously both of my dear parents survived and are recovering, leaving little time for blogging. I had a few minutes just now, though, so here I am.

Happy PFF!
