Over at the Paper Whimsy Forum, Rande posted a Let's Go Green Challenge. We were suppose to use at least 5 recycled items. I wasn't going to play at first as I am so behind on everything at the moment, but I couldn't resist and there is a long timeline to complete the project.
For the background of my collage I used torn cardboard from an old box and painted it. Gathered twigs and dead leaves from my backyard. Found rusty bottle caps, screen, nails and whatever that thing is tied to the twig at the bottom of the collage, LOL... I also used painted paper towels, scraps of paper and napkins, snippets of material, old screen that my husband just replaced from our patio door, since Colby decided to dash through it the other day to get to his horse buddy next door and a junk piece of wood that I found in Tom's workshop. The new thing I used was of course one of Paper Whimsy's gorgeous images.
I am so glad I decided to play this challenge, is was fun collecting and placing items that would probably made it to the garbage bin eventually.

I love the texture of the cardboard as the background.
This is just cool! You have such an eye for things as I have said before. Not everyone can pick up a 1"square of rusty screen or rusty bottle cap and see a purpose for it! We are glad you let those other things wait :)
This is so creative and really beautiful! Well done! ~Lori
Stunning and fabulous! Who'd have thought such a beautiful piece of art could come from so many recycled objects! Hugs, Terri

Debby...love the colors and textures in your piece. I need to get started on mine...but it's been so fun looking at everyone elses first!. Can't wait to see who decides to trade theirs afterwards...I'd been delighted to get this one!

How deeply gorgeous! Shades of burgundy and pink were the colours at my intimate sized wedding in 2004. I adore both of them and have used burgundy to decorate throughout my apartment (including my living room curtains). I find it really soothing and uplifting at the same time.
Thank you very much for your comments, sweet dear, I hope you have a marvelous week!
