I AM CANADIAN...I AM SCREAMING PROUD TODAY!!!!

Oh my gosh, I can't even begin to tell you how proud I am to be Canadian. I was so excited and pumped for the opening of the games last night and I'll tell you what, we should all be very proud! What a show, what a team, we are over-flowing with an abundance of talent. Wasn't the show incredible? I can't pick a favorite part, as I loved all of it. The lineup of artisits, what about that eh! I do know that my fav in the music department had to be K.D. Lang, can that girl sing or what? I have been running around the house all morning singing "Hallelujah." I have been lucky enough to see her in concert 3 times, all in small, roadhouseish (is that a word)..lol...venues... She is so talented and her voice is so awesome. And what about #99, oh I was so hoping he would get to light the torch, but I have to tell you I had tears running down my cheeks with Rick Hansen came out wheeling the torch, un-freakin' real. Can yah all tell I am excited. Isn't our country beautiful, I think we all forget about the beauty we have to offer to the world. Hey, why don't you come over to Canada for a visit. We would love to show you around. I can't show you Vancouver, but I am only 25 minutes from Niagara Falls and an hour from Toronto we could see so many wonderful things, so come on whatcha waitin' for.

If you read my post and leave me a comment I would love to know what your favorite part of the opening was, drop me line.

Hey JT, you betcha girl, I will adopt you come on down!

Jodie girl, I am feeling much better thank you, a bit exhausted Superbowl, Olympics, OWOH..hehehe..but feeling fine.

GO CANADA GO!!!!

Debby....I know exactly what you're saying, girl! I'm not even from Canada (although grew up outside of Niagara Falls and have relatives in O'Canada). What a beautiful ceremony your country put together last night! It was truly classy and thoughtful and just beautiful in every way. There wasn't one thing we didn't just get chills up and down our necks. And I agree...KD was spectacular. I think I need to find out where she's going to be and go see her. I've been a fan for ages and never have seen her in concert (I'm jealous you have seen her 3 times). What a pure voice she has and her rendition was the best we've heard.
Oh, I am so proud of your country and we'll be glued to the TV for the next 16 days. I'll be with you in spirit girl!
Hugs,
Jan

Oh, yes, Debby, it was a magnificent show and I'm lucky enough to know how beautiful Canada is. I never managed to get to the West coast but have visited lots of places on the East one, such as Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and inland areas with seemingly endless forests. Would love to return, specially as that would mean we could meet up!!

HI Canadian Debby!
I lived in Canada for about 25 years. I feel half Canadian, and my husband and kids are Canadian.
I watched it all night. I don't know what part was my favorite. K.D. Lang was phenomenal! We have a new HD tv set and Wow, seeing all those snow capped mountains was breathtaking!
Canada is a beautiful country, filled with such a diverse group of people. I love how they celebrated that.
Happy Valentine's Day!

The opening games were chilling. Absolutely stunning. I loved the violins with the tap dancers. Wasn't that awesome. I can't wait to begin watching the Olympics today.

I watched the whole thing and enjoyed it immensely. Not from Canada, not even close, but Canadians always have had affection in my heart because they are such wonderful friends and neighbors to the US. Some of the footage of the Canadian scenery was breathtaking. I want to visit soon.

Hi - I'm here from the OWOH event and of course noticed your Olympic enthusiasm! I'm from Down East - the Maritimes, darlin'.

We were glued to the TV for the opening ceremonies. Loved the Devil in the Kitchen fiddle party, especially Ashley MacIsaac. Was totally impressed by the First Nations dancers who basically danced non-stop for an hour while all the athletes paraded in. Mindboggling. And kd lang's Hallelujah was divine. What absolute mastery of that song.

I really loved it when the stadium floor turned briefly into the sea so a pod of whales could glide by.

Will keep a better watch from now on.

Everything about the opening ceremony was unbelievably gorgeous! You have a right to be proud of your beautiful country. KD is right up there with my faves, but I adored seeing the tribes and the projection work was beyond amazing. LOVED it and can't wait to watch more Olympic venues as the week progresses. Congrats!!!! Hugs, Terri xoxo

debby, you should be proud of your country. as i said in my facebook post, y'all's opening ceremony was amazing and i learned so much about your wonderful country.
i was so touched that there were four people involved in the lighting of the torch - i guess that was my favorite part.

i do have a question...kd lang sang "alleluia"...i get that - i even rewound to the beginning to see who was singing because i loved the way "he" sang it...now you're saying kd lang is a woman. ...white pant suit and odd short hair like a guy? i promise i heard the song, but kd lang is a girl?
have you heard the canadian tenors sing it? hmmmmm. fabulous.

love you, girlfriend. jan

Like you I can't really pic a favorite part - KD Lang was (as always) fabulous, the fiddler/dancing segment was amazing, the poet was terrific (and I'm not that big on poetry) and the special effects....oh my - Fantastic! Those whales! Wow!

Thanks for your post!
