Teacups & Ribbons

Oh such pretties!

I decided to clean out the bottom of my china cabinet yesterday and came upon oddles of beautiful cups & saucers. They had once belonged to my grandmother and mother. I started thinking how sad it was that we very rarely look at them, and it is even more rare that I would use one. I can remember growing up, they only came out on special occassions and we were never allowed to touch them. How sad! I would love for my daughter and granddaughter to come for a visit and ask if we could have tea in the fancy teacups!

I decided to clean my teacups and take a few pics to share with you. Hope you enjoy!

ooo how lovely Debby, I Love china, these pieces are all beautiful and extra special when they come with sweet memories
Kimmie at Art in Red Wagons is having a Tea Party Tuesday where everyone is invited to blog about a cup of tea or coffee and what they are up to, linking to her post. I plan to play along this Tuesday, in fact, I was just digging in my china cabinet today :)

I've always thought it a great shame to keep china & silverware "for best". I know things can break - but they can also disintegrate and degrade with age and lack of use! So unless you want to eBay them, why not use them every day and get some real pleasure out of looking at, touching and enjoying these wonderful pieces. Bring back Gracious Living! Maybe once they see these and use them, your daughter & granddaughter will fall in love with the china too, and carry on the tradition.

I am totally CONVINCED tea and coffee taste completely different (and better) out of proper china.

Thank you for sharing pictures of your tea cups. I collect tea cups and have some from my mother. I used to have one that looked very much like your black one. Mine was from occupied Japan. Is yours? Unfortunately mine broke in to pieces one day. Seeing yours reminded my of it.
