Finally some sun mixed in with the clouds and showers today. It is still quite cool, but was great to see the sun, fingers crossed it will arrive tomorrow as the weather dude is telling us. We will then have 8 days with rain. Does it ever end. We had quite a few people out and about today downtown so that was nice to see a flurry of activity. I decided to take some pics of the shop so I am going to share with my blogger friends.

Re-arranging!!!!

Happy Saturday! Finally we had a beautiful, warm and summery day yesterday. Guess we forgot spring and are jumping right into summer around here. I spent the afternoon totally re-arranging the shop. So many things have been sold that it was time to get everything back in order. We put out lots of yummy goodies for the mixed media artist and I had a whole box of beautiful baby clothes brought in a few days before so we got those all out and arranged. All the clothes still had the tags on them, it is totally amazing the items we get in that have the original tags. I guess we all do that. Makes me happy to know I am not the only one. We are also expecting a fun order from Papaya next week, fingers crossed that will arrive and there are lots of cool bags/purses arriving in that shipment. Stop by and check us out if you are in the area, we have a little something for everyone. If nothing more it is a fun browsing experience.

Happy Saturday to all! We have been overwhelmed by all the fun and exciting things happening at the nest. We opened our doors on Monday and it has been fun and exciting for our first 5 days. We have had so many wonderful customers browsing and shopping and lots of great feedback. Everyone thinks our little shop and very unique and full of lots of awesome goodies. We are over the moon with the feedback. I have been trying to keep up but it is impossible for me, my daughter and my niece have been running in to help me and I feel very blessed to have them. Tons of awesome clothes arriving daily and me being me thought it was going to be a breeze to play with them, dress them up and take photos but it is not such a breeze as I keep running out of time. My niece finally convinced me yesterday that it just wasn't going to happen. LOL...I do have a few pics of things that arrived so I will share them with you. Have a great weekend.

Happy Easter Everyone!!!

We didn't have an Easter celebration this year, too much work to do. We have exactly one week and the shoppe will be open. I am getting really excited now, somedays I just feel ill..lol...lots of hard work but I think it is all going to be worth it in the end. I also believe this is the first ever Easter in my whole life that I didn't celebrate, feels kind of odd, but there is always next year.

I think I have all my shelving units ready to go and the clothes are in and just waiting to be priced. At least the gifts are all priced so that is huge!!! I need to get pictures and things hung on the wall too. My sign guy is coming on Tuesday so once the signs are in I can get busy and do the windows. That will be lots of fun, no idea where I am going with that yet, but it will all work out. I took lots of pics today so I will share some with you. After cropping and checking the pics out my eyes must be tired because they are not all that great but here they are. Getting the camera battery all charged up because I want to get lots of pic of opening day.

Thought I would share a few pics today of all the yumminess heading to the shop for the mixed media artist. We will be carrying so many awesome goodies. Lots of vintage flowers, tidbits of yummy old lace and bits of vintage linen that we can use in are art. We are going to have tons of beautiful vintage linens and other one of a kind vintage pieces. Lots of rusty bits and vintage buttons. I am very thankful for all my wonderful art friends, we have a great community of artists in all our little groups and in blogland. I am really excited that I am going to be able to display some of the beautiful works of art that I have received over the years from trading atc's & playing in oddles of art journals. I thought it would be fun to display some of my books and atc's amongst the mixed media goodies to show everyone that enters the store what can be done with the unique little pieces we will have in the shop for mixed media. I am hoping that we will be able to bring some of our clients into the digital and mixed media world. This is going to be fun for me. Once I get the shop all setup don't be shocked if you see some of your precious works that has been sent to me through trading sitting in my displays. I treasure all of them and I am over the moon about being able to share the beauty of them with new people.

Starting down a new path and very, very EXCITED!!!

I am bursting with excitement!!! Tom and I have finally decided that the timing is perfect for the next step in our lives. I have been dreaming of opening a little gift and consignment shop for years and that is exactly what we are going to do. I so love the name of my blog that we have decided to call our shop The Gathering Nest Gifts & Consignment. We have found the perfect space for the shop at 6 Clarence Street West, Port Colborne, ON Canada. It is so unique and simply perfect. I have the KEY!!!!! We are going to sell one of a kind, very unique gifts and plan on having tons of vintage everything..talk about YUMMY!!! I can hardly sleep at night trying to place everything in our space. We are also going to have fabulous clothes, excellent condition, that is 1 -2 years old and also vintage clothes in excellent condition on consignment. I have lots of people that seem to be very interested in that. I guess we all have those great items in our closet that we have worn once or twice and know that we will never wear it again, so we are happy to get something for them. I am also hoping to get some of my mixed media friends to send some of their things for the store, that will be so fun. Know what else is going to be fun??? Remember all those great vintage clothes that my sweet friend from work sent my way, well I am going to wear those in my shop. I am really, really excited about that. I was telling my hair dresser that and she looked at me and cracked up, she said Debby can you imagine the kids saying to their parents lets go to that store where that weird lady wears all those really weird clothes. Exactly, that is what I want, perfect for me. If that makes you remember my store I am a very happy girl...

We are in the heart of the tourist area in Port Colborne, so it is going to be great when spring really gets here and people start to come into town to capture the beauty of our town and shop our unique shops. The shop is going to be right by the bridge in downtown Port Colborne, so I am excited to put my counter in a spot where I will be able to see the ships going through the Welland Canal as they make there way out into Lake Erie..awesome...

Wow!!! Where does the time go? We actually had a decent week here this week and got rid of lots of snow. Melt down!!!! Yeah!!! It is cold this morning and I am seeing snow flurries dancing by my window. SIGH!!!

I am all excited getting ready to go to a pajama party with my two best buddies. What could be better, flannel jammies, junk food, movies and lots of girl talk!!!! Can hardly wait.

I have been busy the past few weeks with lots of different things and it is amazing to me how fast the time goes by. I swear we get up and bam it is time to go back to bed again, so we can get up and do it all over again.

I have been busy making cards, so fun to do these! Here are just a couple that I done. Gotta love those Paper Whimsy kids.

Turquoise & Copper for my ColorGroupies Friends..

I belong to a great group of 5 artists. Our group is called ColorGroupies and each month we make atc's from the colors that have been pre-determined for the year. January colors were turquoise & copper. All of my atc's have arrived to there destination so I can share here now.

I found myself feeling down because I came to the conclusion that I was spending way too much time on the internet and really not accomplishing things that I wanted to, including art. I have cut myself way back on internet time and am having lots of fun playing again. I actually had a great time making these atc's instead of feeling like it was something that I had to do because the month was coming to an end.. YAY ME!!!!!!

I bet we all have to reflect once in awhile about how best to use our time. I try to check on blog posts a few times a week now instead of making it a priority for hours everyday. I check in on FB early in the morning and never go back until the next morning. I like the freedom I have found in getting out and enjoying friends and family and doing things that are dear to my heart. I still love checking my fav blogs, but I am now doing it on my terms and it isn't something that needs to happen to fulfill my day. Anyone else feel like this?

Another snowy day here today. I can't believe where the time goes. I am suppose to be getting lots done while I am off work, but it just doesn't work out that way..lol...

I have been in kind of in a slump the past week or so. I imagine it is getting over the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. I am glad it is over but everything seems to come to a sudden halt. I have so many things I want to get accomplished and lots of ideas floating around in my head, but never seem to accomplish anything.

I am trying to put my projects in order today and hoping that will get me started at something. I bought a calendar template from Nathalie over at ScrapbookGraphics in early December and in the weeks leading up to Christmas I was slowly working away at creating a calendar pages in hopes of getting it completed for gifts. That didn’t happen, but I will get it completed and send a little surprise off to my sisters, as they won’t mind things being a little late.

Here is my January page for the calendar. I am making the pages 4x6 and they will slide into a holder that has a magnet on the back.

I have used elements from Catherine Designs- Winter Retreat, Bisontine – Vintage Ephemra both at After 5 Designs. Elena – Frosted Whisper, Magical Reality – Winterlude both at PickleberryPop.

My granddaughter came over and spent the day with me yesterday. We had so much fun playing with photoshop, eating all the stuff we shouldn't be eating and playing with my ipad. Fun!!!! Here is what Alexandra created while playing in photoshop. I just now noticed that she didn't sign it so we will have to fix that when she comes back. I am wondering if the sweet child doesn't think I am a little wacky. I love, love my ipad so much that I have been getting kids books to read and watch on it...lol..they are just so awesome. Anyways I had to give up my ipad while she was here so I grabbed the iphone and played with it. I noticed that I had Twas the night before Christmas book on it so I clicked it and told it to play and read to me. She just sat there looking at me like I had gone over the edge or something..lol...hmmm...

Sending you all warm holiday greetings for a bright and beautiful season. I am starting to get excited now that it is getting closer. Such a busy time of year with all the hustle and bustle of running here and there, friends gathering and getting ready for Santa's visit. I am actually exhausted today but think I have everything pretty much ready to go. It will be fun having family and friend get together's tomorrow and tomorrow night and then I always look forward to Christmas Day and celebrating with our children and grandchildren. I tried not to go overboard this year on the gift giving and remembering why we are really celebrating this day! I have to apoligize for not visiting my bloggie friends, everyday I think I am going to get there and I just never make it. I will be finding more time once we get the holidays over and hope you will forgive me for not visiting. I value the special friendships and bonds I have made here in blogland and I am looking forward to many visits in 2011.

10 Lords Leaping

we had to make an overlay for today, mine turned out pretty much plain but I am a plain kinda girl so that is good with me...Most elements by Lorrie Davison-The Grey House Manor and some by Studio Manu -Vintage Christmas.

Day 9 was the day we had to blend two photos together that Digital Whisper team supplies and play with filters.

Day 8 we had to make our own snowflakes. I wasn't happy with mine so you won't find many of them..lol...

For the 6th day we had to feather our own background and have a feather in it or all over it or whatever one decided on. I was not crazy about this challenge and really not up for putting a feather in at all...lol...but that is what I did..one feather, one..hehehe...no collage for day six. On day 7 we had to use the princess and swan that they gave us and our background. Hmmmm....I wasn't all that impressed with my background as I hadn't made my very own before but away I went. Here is the end result.

Day 5 and we are off and running with the golden rings..hehehe... I had so much fun making this shadow box for this challenge. I cheated though!!!! We were suppose to make the rings and I didn't have much luck with that so gave up after an hour of getting nothing created and just plain cheated...lol...

The task at hand today was using the sweet little birdie photo and applying filters! Fun!!!
Once I got my bird out I applied the photo filter and then used the brush stroke filter accented edges on them. All elements used today are from Rebecca McQueen at ScrapbookGraphics & the bird from Digital Whisper Group. Another fun project! I like the fact that they are making us use all the different goodies in our program.

Well I have to tell you that I had no idea what the 12 days of Christmas was going to be like when I joined over at Digital Whispers. It is very challenging, but fun. Today we had to made a set of wings!!! Hmmm...I have never made wings before but off I went to try and see what I could come up with. Better yet, I have had a Wacom tablet for over a year and really didn't bother to play with it much and every tutorial I seen for making the wings said you have to use a pen to create these. Great!!!!! Out comes the Wacom and away we go. Now that it is out maybe I will use it a bit more. LOL...Why, oh why do we have to have everything that we see people using??? Are we all like this or is it just silly ole me???

I am playing the twelve days of Christmas over at Digital Whisper. It started yesterday and goes for the next 12 days. Yesterday we had to make a tree out of photoshop brushes, not one of my fav things to do...lol...Today we had to colorize a b/w photo, more my kind of fun..

I have been busy the last little bit readying things for Christmas. Such a busy time of the year, but oh so beautiful. I have a habit of clean, clean, clean, decorate a little, clean some more, do a little shopping, more decorating, write out Christmas cards (boy is that time consuming), more cleaning and try to stop myself from looking at another decoration. I always feel bad because honestly I never have time to make any Christmas cards but sure would love to one of these years. Maybe a person should actually start in February to prepare for the following December.

I thought I would share a little of my Christmas decorating fun with you, haven't posted in ages and didn't want you all to think I have fallen off the earth...lol...So here is a bit of what I have happening at my home for my family and friends.

Get Your Whimsy On….

I am giggling to myself! I received a call from my sister the other day for my birthday. It was your regular birthday call. Happy Birthday to you, how are you, what are you up too and then whamo… She lit into me big time. Shocked yes, irritated????, oh yeah!!! Seems as though she had been visiting with my other sister a few days before the call and she just happened to have everything that I had ever made her laying out…lol…The first problem was a book that I had made for my sister, as I was getting it explained to me I couldn’t figure out what the heck she was talking about and as she explained more about it I figured it out. My sister had been married 30 years, ten years ago and I made this atc book for her and why would I make that for her when I know that my other sister would absolutely love it more…lol….I usually try to make something similar for each of them as my eldest sister is known to go into fits if someone gets something she thinks she should have, that is why I couldn’t figure out what she was talking about in the beginning of the conversation. Once I got it figured out, I told her to let me know when she gets 30 years in and I will be glad to make her a book..silence on the other end.
Then it was unto the next problem…hmmmm…we want to know why you don’t make us cards anymore, we love them and you just go and buy cards at the store the last few years. Oh really, like I have nothing to do other than worry about getting cards made for you, it is so much easier going to the store…well even Bryan thinks that it is crazy that you go to the store. Oh good, lets bring Bryan into this now.
I think the real reason, other than time was that I was never really sure if they did appreciate them or even like them. But hey, who am I too say, obviously they do like them. So with that being said, I got to thinking that I should probably make a few cards since my sisters, my aunt and I are all hooking up next week for lunch. I forgot how much I do like making them. I pulled out some beautiful new papers that Caryl sent me for my birthday and of course my Paper Whimsy images and just played. Fun, cards finished and I can relax knowing that we won’t have a card issue while out for lunch.

Back to Basics of glue and paper

I have been in a slump lately and just couldn’t get anything together. I would look around my play space and see all these products that I just had to have and have never used them. I guess you could say I am totally mad at me. I would get myself in such a funk that I couldn’t create anything. Do you ever have those days, weeks, months…. All that wasted money just sitting there, waiting to be played with.

I love collage and really haven’t been playing much with papers and glue. It is what got me started down this crazy road and what I so desperately wanted to get back to. Yesterday I finally talked myself into getting over all those must have things, setting it aside in my mind and brought out some of favorite Paper Whimsy images, papers, glues, some torn book covers, stickles, distress inks and just played. I found that I was happy and relaxed, good for the soul.

Hello!!!!! Oh my gosh, it has been almost a month since I posted or even came near my blog. Hope everyone is doing great. My computer crashed, sigh!!!!! My computer geek built me a new one and delivered it last weekend and I have been spending hours and hours getting everything the way I like it..LOL...Finally got the rest of my crap loaded on today so thought I would see how my photoshop was working. I was having fits not being able to play with it. I did a quick Halloween collage just to check it out and will share with you in this post. All images are from Deviant Art, a couple different kits.

So glad to be back in action and hope to spend a bit more time in blogland by the end of the month.

Hope everyone is well! I have taken a bit of time the past couple of weeks to finally look at my Digital Magic class. WOW!!! I have really been enjoying it. Marie is an awesome teacher and has so many wonderful techniques. You can find the class info on my sidebar.

I decided to play with a bit of Halloween goodies and ended up with this Bewitched Digital. I have used imgaes from Lisa's Altered Arts, Shabby Pickle, Tululipki, and Christina Renee.

Fun playing with 4x8 pages

I found some time to play with my 4x8 pages for Trudi's book the past few evenings. I know Trudi loves playing digitally so I decided to make her pages digital. I forgot to write down where all the different elements came from as it is hard to keep track when you are flipping from one album to another collecting images to use but I believe alot of them are from Hocus Pocus and Dark City over at Shabby Pickle and the little girl and vintage ladies are from Lisa's Altered Art. I have to add a few embellishments and they will be on there way to Trudi. I love the sweet little girl so much I have enlarged a copy for myself.

My goodness, I can't believe I haven't blogged for so long. I have missed visiting all of my fav blogs and following along with all of you. We have had a very busy month here and I just couldn't get to the computer to play! I have a couple more busy weeks and then hoping things will get back to normal the first part of September. I can't even imagine all the fun and beautiful things I have missed but it would be impossible to try and catch up now. Hope everyone is having a great summer, (hot for sure) and I will be back playing with all of you soon.

I haven't had much time to play but decide I needed to do something a few weeks back so I played with photoshop using images from my sweet girl Jodie at Everything Vintage, Dark City by StarLight Designs, Hocus Pocus from Shabby Pickle and clock face by Elegia.

My goodness I do not know where the time goes around here. Seems like I was just as happy as could be as my days off roled around and here it is late Saturday and back to work tomorrow. BLAH!!!! I stayed up late on Thursday night so I could get everything done around the house and have Friday and Saturday to play but that never seems to work out. LOL... I am already on the count down of weeks left to work and I am sure it is 15. Isn't that sad when one would be on the count down for fall to arrive and the end of October to get here so she can stay home and have lots of art time. Geesh...

I didn't have time to get my glue and paper out this weekend but wanted to get something accomplished so I sat down and messed around in photoshop. I am not sure where this even came from because I really didn't have anything in mind except to play. I knew I wanted to use the doll head and that is all I knew. So I guess it has ended up as just one of those days. It is fun to play with photoshop as there isn't a huge mess to clean up when your playing comes to an end.

I can't believe I am actually posting. It has been such a busy and hot, hot summer for me. I haven't really been able to do any fun things for a few weeks and haven't been feeling well all this week, slowly getting back to normal today. I am way behind on everything to do with my blog. I have made up my mind that I am going to visit each and everyone that joined WWC and the Sorority Girls, so if I haven't made it to your blog yet I will eventually get there. I only have a couple hundred to visit...lol...but I will get there. I have been trying to catch up on all my past due things today, maybe that will make me feel lots better. I enrolled in the Digital Magic Class and haven't had time to do one lesson yet. I think lesson 5 is going to be posted tomorrow but I will eventually make it to class also. I was to have Caryl's Essence of Dreams pages done in June and finally completed them today, so that makes me happy. She will forgive me though, as she knows I am way behind on things and she loves me. Caryl do you still love me?????

It has been well into the 100's for most of this week with the humidex and I am totally sick of it. This is far hotter than we are used too and I am hoping it moves out and stays out for the rest of the summer. Not a huge summer fan to begin with, love fall!!!

I will share my Dream pages for Caryl with you as they have been posted on the group site. Sorry to be so far behind on visiting all of you, next week should catch me up and I will be back to normal. Hope I haven't missed too much.

Soap Box Challenge

I had so much fun creating for the soap box challenge. I didn't go silly and turn this cute little soap box into anything very creative, just simply collaged it. I painted the box, antiqued it and added some sparklies. Then I covered it with clear gloss glaze, made a collage for the lid, a bit of glitter glue and added a clasp. I like the way it turned out. Had to take my photos at night so they aren't perfect, funny how the light changes things at night.

Well today is the official gathering of the Bloggerette Sorority, a fun new blogging spot to meet new friends, artists and just plain have fun. A big thanks to Karen for having such a brilliant idea so we could meet like minded bloggers. Karen asked us to create something, anything that we wished for our first party but we had to use the photo from the blog button. I have been very busy and wasn't sure if I was going to get the first project done, but I kept plugging away and playing whenever I found the time. I decided to make a cover for a journal where I could keep track of this and that, a sort of what's happening journal in blogland. Here is the finished product, hope you like it.

I have to send out a big apology to all my blogging friends as I haven't been able to keep up this past week, so if I haven't checked in on you I want you to know I haven't forgot about you. I am going to be very busy for another week or so then I should be able to visit all my fav places. I also joined in on Where Blogger's Create II, oh my gosh it is fun visiting everyone's creative spaces. So much eye candy and great idea's. I am not even a quarter of the way through the list but I am going to visit each and everyone of the fabulous blogs. Time consuming, YES!!!! Fun, YES!!!

Where Bloggers Create II

Hi Everyone! I am happy and excited to be joining in on Karen's second Where Bloggers Create Party. I would like to thank Karen for all of her hard work and inspiration to get the party started. I am sure she must have been very over~whelmed with the huge response and it must have been very time consuming getting everything organized. Thank you so much Karen, you are a very sweet and special person.

As most of you know I am a huge fan of vintage things. A girl can never have too much vintage STUFF as far as I am concerned. I have been playing around with mixed media for quite a few years now and it all started with Artist Trading Cards (atc's). I got so excited when I first heard about them and once I found where I could purchase the book put out by Somerset Studio in Canada my husband was on a mission. Poor guy, I hate driving in the city and that is the only place I could find it online so off we went. He is really such a sweetie when it comes to things like that, especially if I make a deal that we can stop off at Golf Town. I have to tell you that I studied that book and studied that book and was in complete awe. I have met so many kind and wonderful artists and friends through the mixed media world and have collected thousands of atcs. I often will get one of my binders out on a rainy day and take each and everyone out of the pocket and touch them and simply just behold all the inspiration and beauty found between the pages. I also love art journals and have done many round robins with other artists and have beautiful books that are true treasures to me. I am sure that everyone that has traded atc's or made pages for my books have to believe that I have a one track mind as my only requests are normally vintage and children. I love all vintage children images and never seem to tire of them. Thus, my creative space full of magazines, books, glues, linens, suitcases, basket, images, paints, papers, embellishments, lace, ribbons, all things I love. I spend numerous hours in my own creative space and it fills my heart with happiness every time I enter. It is fun, it is unique and it is mine. I hope you enjoy stopping in for a visit and sharing with me. I look forward to stopping by and meeting all of you in what has to be our favorite room in our home, the room where our minds go wild and we simply create and are surrounded by our own creations and the creations of all our beautiful art and blogger friends.

I adore this ledger that I got at an auction a few years ago. It is from 1898 and has a gorgeous leather cover and the writing inside is amazing. I had the bright idea of buying it and ripping the pages out, but when I got it home that was a big no, no..

This is the bottom of my necklace tree. I love this thing, full of rhinestones and sparklies. I found it in my local grocers three years ago at Christmas and it is perfect for hanging jewelry.

Okay!! Don't laugh at my shelves cluttered and sagging. Those darned books are so heavy. The cabinet with the little sections is the handiess thing ever. It has four sections, two sides deep, two sides not so much. I found this thing in a local shop that was changing shelves and got it for a song. It rotates and it stores so much stuff, not sure what I done without it. We realized when we went to pick it up, why the price was so cheap, heavy, heavy...LOL...See my doggies in their party hats on the top shelf, aren't they sweet. My bestest artist friend ever Caryl you can check her out here http://carylsrealm.blogspot.com/ drew my babies for me for my husband for Christmas a few years ago. I knew she could draw, but I was amazed when it arrived in the mail. She nailed it, all from sending her a silly picture of each of them by email. The best part of this whole blogging world is getting to share with so many like minded people and even getting to meet them. I have been lucky enough to spend time with Caryl, twice on Paper Whimsy art retreats and I can't begin to explain how it makes me feel to have such a kindred spirit to share with.

Skinny pages for my RR partner

Gosh, I am so late with these. I have been a bad swapper. You know the deal, taking on to many projects, trying to keep up and bam you are late. I have finally finished my pages for Karen's skinny book which were due the end of May!!! Karen's theme is Grandma's Attic. I made digital pages this month, so fun to play with photoshop. I have lots to learn, but I really enjoy messing around in there..Thanks for the beautiful image Elizabeth!

I am also trying to get ready for Karen at My Desert Cottage fun party that is starting this Saturday Where Blogger's Create II. I can hardly wait to see all the awesome creative spaces out there. I haven't been having a good time with this as I realize I hate the color of my walls and my floors so need to be replaced..SIGH!!! What is up with that wall color anyway. It just looks horrible in the pics, but they are actually nice in real. I am going to have to get painting when I am off in the fall..Just another project to add to the list, always something to do..

I also need to get my collage done for the Bloggers Soroity!!!! Over at another Karen's, Some Days are Diamonds.

My Summertime Journal Arrived, oh my it is so incredible.

Remember my post about the Summertime Journal that Pam http://fluffandfinery.blogspot.com/ hosted, well my package arrived from my partner and it is so incredible and unique! I am totally in awe of it. Trust me the photos do not do this treasure any justice, wish you could see it in real.

Look what I found when I opened the box.

Isn't it wonderful, beautifully wrapped in Avery's fav color of seaglass silk, not sure why the pic didn't show the true color but you will see it below, with the yummy vintage lace and button.

Here is the awesome box cover that holds my journal, the cover slides off so gorgeous and this is the true color of the silk wrapping.

Look what I found when I took the cover off. Well the ribbon was tied, but I like it dangling for the pic and look at all her beautiful embellisments and beading.

EEK!!! The back is amazing, I love it. See the bottom of the box. Isn't it odd that we both love white, off white, the color of seaglass, pretty ribbons, vintage lace, beautiful handmade necklaces, all things vintage and I find it really weird that both of our journals are accordian style. Hmmmm!!!! The perfect match.

Now let's go back to a close-up of the first pocket page I showed you. Can you believe that Avery made me this gorgeous necklace and put it in the pocket. Oh my gosh, it is just incredible. She had sent me a few photos of her work and I was swooning over it. I never imagined that I would actually get a piece in my journal! What a treasure. Look at the setting it is just amazing! I am not sure if Avery has an Etsy shop or not, I think she just sells at little shops. Will have to find out.

Can you believe that I set the new package aside and didn't find it again until the next day, after I had sent my thankyou note off to Becky. As soon as I found it and opened it I could have cried, thinking about how terrible she must have thought I was for not mentioning this beautiful treasure. I fired off an email immediately to let her know that I had misplaced my NEW package. As bad as I felt it was kind of fun finding this one last treasure to open the next day.

Summer Time journal book arrives at my Partners

I have received an email that my Summer Time journal book finally arrived at my partner's home. When I got up this morning I had a nice email that the book was awaiting her when she arrived home yesterday. Makes my heart sing when someone enjoys what you have created and sent off to them. My partner, Avery does not have a blog, but says getting her book just may push her to start one so she could post about it. I wrapped her journal in a doily and she already has the doily out and in use. She also said she has her journal opened on the table next to her bed with a pen by it's side so she can enter her thoughts. I would like to thank Pam http://fluffandfinery.blogspot.com/ for putting this fun swap together for us. I will post about my journal when it arrives. For now I will share what I created for Avery.
I used an accordian style journal and made digital, fabric, paper and glue pages. Added a pocket and put a few treasures in. Avery emailed me with her colors of choice, white, off white and blue the color of sea glass. I had so much fun putting this together.

I had a chance to play with some of my beautiful treasures from the sweet ladies that are looking down on us! It is just nuts don't yah think? I can't believe that I have received all these beautiful things from two awesome ladies that I don't even know. I am having so much fun opening boxes and bags and finding more and more things that I truly love. I hope you are enjoying sharing in my special time with me because I sure love sharing these beauties with all of you.

Oh yes it is!!!

Here is a roll of old, old cheese cloth. This is the package that Jen's father was standing at the door with one day when they had called me over for another load. He was just beaming holding this and saying look what I found for you, I know you are going to love this. He was right, I do love this. Isn't it funny how someone can figure you out after just a few short visit. He must have over heard me freaking out for something like this on one of my other visit. I am a very lucky girl to have someone want to share all these pretties with me.

I went to our local farmer's market this morning and brought home beautiful freshly picked strawberries, yummy. I am going to make a strawberry shortcake from scratch tomorrow, it is my Gram's recipe, it doesn't look all that pretty but it is the yummiest I have ever had. I also got some homemade maple syrup, I hadn't seen this guy at our market before but he was willing to hand a plastic spoon over for me to try the syrup and I was sold immediately. I decided I will save this syrup for little ole me and let Tom use the store bought stuff, he just doesn't apprecitate the yumminess of the real thing..lol...I got beets, I love beets. I love them just plain boiled, I love them pickled and thrown on my salad. I forgot to take pics of my fruits, vegetables & syrup but I did get these and they are so beautiful and smell awesome.

So pretty. See the serving tray I have them sitting on, my parents gifted me with this years ago, I always loved it. It is so beautiful. It is made of wicker. The bottom of it is layered with the gorgeous material you see, you can see it better in photos at the bottom of this post and the material is covered with glass. Love it.

I have lots of different things to share with you today so this post is going all over the place. I am hoping to grab a few minutes later today to take some more pics of my treasures, if I get really, really lucky I could possibly have a couple of posts within a couple of days..lol..I think I am getting too old for this WORK STUFF, it seems to be cutting into my fun time. The older I get, the slower I get and just can't get everything accomplished that I would like to. I also think I may be a bit jealous that Tom has retired and he seems to think the only thing in the world to do now a days it hang out at the golf course. BLAH!!!!

The flowers are screaming with color, oh how I love them, so new, bright and full of beauty.

This is called a passion flower, I have never had one before but the flowers are incredible.

I will take a pic when it flowers.

I had a chance to snap more photos of my treasures from the old house, they are filling my heart and home with total yumminess! I have the funniest feeling that the ladies of the house are smiling down at all of us with so much happiness that not one or two people, but many can share in the delight of their treasures. Fun, eh!!!
Maybe it is worth all the trouble we go too, to preserve our treasures and have someone to love them when we are gone and share with the world.

I have to share a story with you. My daughter came over last Friday and we had so much fun going through the bags and boxes of clothing. She is a real vintage clothing freak. It was like Christmas morning for her. I had been through what I let her go through already and I knew exactly how she was going to react. LOL...I was right, just like Christmas morning...rip, tear, move on to the next gift, try it on, get it off, need the next one. I was playing the spoiler though, she would try something on and run into our bedroom to see how she looked..I would have the next piece out and would never let her get ahead of me. She so wanted to just dig to the bottom, but nope, not allowed, have to handle with care. We spent about 1 1/2 up there just laughing and giggling and twirling about. She tried on all the hats and made me smile, she has beautiful long thick hair and the hats looked gorgeous on her.

Don't you just love this old suitcase? I think it is so awesome.

All these goodies were dangling from the inside when I opened it.

And away we go! I have washed and pressed all these linens, and decided to store them in the suitcase.

The other two babies just did not have time for me to be snapping pics of them. They would rather run around and see what kind of trouble they can get into. LOL...

This is going to be long and lots of pics. I have to be one of the luckiest girls in the world. A few weeks back I was notified by sweet Jodie that I had won her SA-Van-Nah blog giveaway. This girl is smart...I had been soaking in each and every post of her beautiful getaway never dreaming that I would win her giveaway. Now I am going to share a few of my treasures from the bin diving..That just doesn't sound right does it..bin diving.. I have to tell you that I didn't have to go into the bin, but the bin is sitting there. They cleared out a room and are setting the STUFF in the room that was headed for the bin, they call it the DEBBY room..Jenn was laughing the last day I saw her at work because her dad gave me a room.. I have to tell you that this is going to take me months to get through and I have now set up one of my spare rooms for all the treasures and I will slowly share with you. I so wish this would have happened in the winter when I would have had months to play with everything, but I am back to work full time and it will be a slow go from here. I want to take my time and get everything cleaned up and pretty for you all to see and there are bags and bags and boxes and boxes of all the things we love. I often find myself with tears in my eyes and wishing I would have had the opportunity of knowing these sweet ladies. But I am pretty sure they are watching over me as I go on this wonderful adventure.

I am so over~whelmed with my dumpster diving...LOL...You would never believe this in a hundred years. I am exhausted. I haven't had time to post between work and diving. I went over on Friday and Jenn's father couldn't remember who I was until he seem me coming up the walk, then I heard him say now I know with a big smile. He wanted to be sure he knew who Jenn was talking about, before he gave the go ahead. hehehe...You can't even imagine that place, it is old and filled to the brim, top to bottom, even the attic. They wanted to make sure of the things that I would be interested in before they started setting things aside. I came home with so many gorgeous things on Friday and got a call at work yesterday to stop by they had more things for me. They had cleared out a room and put everything in there that was dumpster bound and put my name on it. I don't know what to do, it is just crazy. I couldn't get another box or bag in my vehicle and they said see you in a few days.

I won't be able to share any pics until my days off, hoping to get a few then but I have so many beautiful old books, linens...I have garbage bag after garbage bag of really old linens..they are almost all in perfect shape, not stuff you would dream of ripping up...My head is spinning..So many gorgeous clothes from the 50's..oh my...the colors, the wool, the linens...Vintage hats, yikes....So many beautiful petticoats...PAPER DOlls that have been in the attic for years and years. It is so amazing, but I am really in shock I think...There are package after package of clothes wrapped in newspaper, tied with string in the attic..YIKES...

I believe things happen for a reason. I think the ladies of the house are looking down on their beautiful things and pointed Jenn in my direction knowing I would love and care for their beautiful belongings! When I got home on Friday the first thing I done was take all the paper dolls out of their beautiful box and played away. It was almost like I could feel a presence, someone watching me and smiling down. Crazy??? Not sure...Hoping I felt that..I am sure.

I have been waiting patiently for this package to arrive. Wait until you see the contents, so gorgeous, so yummy, so vintage. I have been drooling over Holly's art aprons for a long time and just couldn't take it any longer. She posted an apron she had made a few weeks ago and it put me completely over the edge. Bam!!!! Off I went, fired off an email and asked her if she could create an art apron for me in white, creams, very vintage shabby..Holly got back to me immediately and said she could get started in a few days. I told her I wanted to be surprised and create whatever she wished in my vintage style. Oh my gosh, you are going to flip when you see this beauty. Are you ready???? Don't be jealous, I am sure she would love to create something for all of you.

She wants me to check out all the old books, paper, photos and STUFF that her father says is JUNK and is going to be heading for the DUMPSTER...She thought I just might like to save some of these goodies from going through the trash compacter. I am finally getting around to my finds at the sale last Sunday! It was so much fun wandering around the old cottage and finding a few goodies to bring home with me. I was shocked there was anything left, as the sale started on Saturday but I was able to find a few treasures. It was the funniest thing, the lady looking after the sale had me nailed, I think. I was picking up and touching what most people would consider trash. I went for the yummy old fabrics and laces that had passed through many hands that weekend and were still lying there. When I asked the price she said just set them aside dear and we will figure that out later. Next up was the wonderful (junk) costume jewelery, I was in heaven and again when I asked about the price it was the more you take the cheaper it is..lol..not a good thing to tell me. Next stop, beautiful old books, I didn't even bother asking and just added them to the pile. By this time I was a bit irritated because I didn't have my camera with me, never take it with me when I am going to work. SIGH!!! You should have seen the old, old, gorgeous paintings and the frames. Paintings of real people, very pricey, out of my league. There was one as soon as you walked in the door, a lady, it was old and it was fabulous. They said she had been haunting them all weekend, maybe she didn't want that sweet cottage emptied out. I wonder what happened to those painting, they said someone was coming by later to check them out. Anyways I made my way upstairs, so many neat old beds and goodies, lots have sold on them waiting to be picked up. I wandered into a room and found this beautiful old cloth doll with a painted face and the most beautiful old dress on. She was tattered and torn with a rip on her face near her left eye but I love her and wanted her to come home with me so bad. I left her sitting there and wandered off into another room and yikes, I saw the most incredible leather hat box, oh my, it was full of stuff, but the case was awesome. I knew I had to have it. I ran down those stairs and made the lady come up with me. I needed to know the price of the hat box and the cloth doll. I told her I may have to leave and hit a bank machine as I didn't have much cash on me..she just looked at me and said if you have $20.00 take it all. I told her I knew I had $15.00 and not sure how much change but when I dug around I came up with the $20.00. I thought she had lost her mind, I was so excited to get all the beautiful items for 20.00. After I paid her, she just out and out asked me if I was an artist, I looked at her liked she was MAD, how could she know that. I told her I was a mixed~media artist, me...those words came out of my mouth like I really knew what I was talking about...I asked her how she knew, and she said it was the things I was looking at and setting aside, all those things no one else had any interest in. She told me she thought I was a good little shopper and she liked watching me while I was shopping and that is why she didn't give me a price on anything and just kept having me add to the pile, she enjoyed watching me so much and that is how is came up with the grand total of $20.00. Fun stuff, huh????? I got my treasures loaded in my vehicle fast and headed out of there because I thought for sure someone would be coming after me. I sorted through everything when I got home and set everything outside to air out, threw fabrics and what I could in the dryer with fabric sheets and they all smell really nice and fresh now.

this is the footstool from the silent auction.

The only thing in the pics that didn't come from the little cottage is the footstool that I won at silent auction on Tuesday at our local thrift shop. Anything antique they run silent auctions on and I have been bidding on this for almost a month. I just happened to stop in there on my way home from work and they told me that they had left a message that morning that I could come by and pick it up.

I am such a lucky girl! I am really a lucky girl because I decided to be a blogging girl!!!! I love our sweet little world. Who would have ever thought that when I started this silly blog a year ago that I would have connected with all my special blogging friends. Who wants to read what I have on here...HUH!!! Seriously!!!! Somebody wants to? I think they do, because somehow I have 330 sweet peeps following me...ME...hehehe..I am so happy!!! I have my kind of art lovin' peeps, you know, the peeps that get what you are doing. I have my sweet vintage peeps, those girls make me so jealous looking at their beautiful homes and decorating tips! YIKES!!!! Those peeps can get me in all kinds of trouble, good trouble. How about the PEEPS that go all over meeting each other? REALLY JEALOUS!!!! I might be jealous, but I feel a real connection to each and everyone of you and I wish you could see the huge smiles you bring to my face when I am reading your posts. I wish you could see the tears and the saddness in my heart when you have a sad story to share with me. I feel like I know you all like a best buddie and love sharing my time with you.

Also, it is like wild kingdom week around here look at the sweet bunny I found in my backyard yesterday and this goofy black cat that I found up in the tree at the same time. I do not have cats, I have my doggies. I called my neighbor because they have cats and he got up and got GOOFY out of the tree. Come to find out it wasn't that neighbor's cat, but the neighbor across the street was the owner. BAD KITTY crossing the road!

My sweet nephew called me yesterday, he lives about four hours away and told me he was driving down today and wanted to stop by and visit his auntie..hehehe..I asked him to join me for dinner so I am really looking forward to his visit as I haven't seen him for some time. I can remember when he was little, the sweetest little baby with the most beautiful curly red hair and I would take him everywhere with me, loved him to pieces. I can hardly wait to give him a big ole smooch!!!

I forgot to take pics after I packaged everything up. Sigh,it looked so pretty...hehehe..

I had a really busy weekend and I am trying to catch up today! I decided, well let's say hubby decided that we should invite a few of our friends over for a good old fashioned turkey dinner since I worked all during Easter and we couldn't get the kids gathered the week before or the week after and he needed his turkey fix..lol..We shared our dinner with three other couples and had a great time. All was good until the alarm went off at 5:30 in the morning for me to get my butt in gear and get up to get ready for work, not that much fun when you didn't hit the bed until 1:30. BLECK!!!! I made it though, but I wasn't so tired on my way home from work that I couldn't make at stop at a garage sale. I had seen it advertised in our local paper for Sat. & Sun. but of course I couldn't make it Sat. The listing read Sweet Victorian Antique Garage Sale, how could I not check it out? Anyways I stopped and found a few goodies which I will blog about later once I get it all sorted out.

Can you even believe how gorgeous everything is. I love each and every little bit & bob. That is one of the most gorgeous tussie mussie's I have ever seen, oh it is so vintage and so pretty. What about the beautiful nest charm, so pretty. I am exhausted going from one pretty to the next, over and over and over. I can't help it, just can't stop looking.

Honey, Your Home!!!!

Oh my gosh, remember a month or so ago we were debating whether to sell our house in the country and buy a smaller home in town? Well, we decided that wouldn't be the thing for us to do at the moment as we love our big ole house in the country. That being said I decided I was going to start decorating the rooms upstairs that I haven't touched since we moved in. It was so much fun when we bought the house eight years ago and the kids and the grandchildren came for their first visit. Our son and daughter decided on which rooms they would call theirs, not that our son had much choice as our daughter seems to be the boss of the two, he is oldest, but he must follow along with her rules..lol...and not that either of them live with us, but we thought it would be fun for everyone to have their own rooms when they decided to stay over for Christmas Eve and any other time they wanted to. Our granddaughter and grandson also got to pick their own rooms too, of course the pink one was for Alexandra, not much of a choice there and the one in blue was all for Dylan. Actually, Dylan really, really wanted Uncle Tommy's room because it had a secret doorway to the attic but I ended that in a hurry. MEan GRANNY!!!! Anyways I haven't done a thing with any of the bedrooms upstairs except ours and now that we have decided to stay here it is time to move along.

Today I decided to start ripping the blue room apart. OOPS!!!! Wait until hubby gets home, he isn't going to be happy!!! LOL...Well come to think of it, I am not all that happy!!!! I am telling you, the lady that owned this house before us loved wallpaper, wallpaper everything. I have gotten rid of all the wallpaper downstairs, but I am in a mess on my first room upstairs. The four bedrooms, other than ours is what we call the really, really old part of the house. This lady has beige paint, then a coat of blue paint, I have found green paint on the start of the next wall, a layer of wallpaper, a different layer of wallpaper and oh yes, we mustn't forget about the two different border layers..I am sure you can tell that I am real happy here. I have got one small, very small wall done, only took me 3 hours, yep I am happy. You have to believe me here the layers of paint and wallpaper are not the worst things I found on this wall, here check it out for yourself

I cannot believe that someone would actually fix a wall, but not fix a wall...are we in that big of a hurry people. I am in a huge mess and just wait until THOMAS gets home. He has found so many goofy things that the previous owners have done to this house and for the most part flips when he finds something and I just keep telling him that they couldn't help it, they just aren't that bright so RELAX!!!! Wonder what he is going to be thinking when he sees this beauty?

I did end up having a great day when the messy part of it was over. I joined the Tussie Mussie swap over at A Swap for All Seasons and my package arrived in the mail today! I am over the moon with this beauty, wait until you see what my partner made and sent me. Here is just a sneak peek and I will blog about it tomorrw.
