Happy Canada Day!

A day for celebration as my country is celebrating another birthday! Happy 142nd Birthday Canada.

Seems odd to have a holiday in the middle of the week, but this is the one holiday I believe should be celebrated on the day, July 1st. It just wouldn't make sense to extend the birthday celebration so it would become a long weekend.

Wishing all my Canadian friends and relatives a wonderful Canada Day!

A House for Frieda

My swap partner over at Oh My Gothic for the month of July is Frieda! Always hard to make something for such a wonderful artist. Frieda is a fabulous quilter and uses her quilting and beading talents in most all of her mixed media work. Every piece I have ever received from her is simply stunning. I struggled with her house, always a bit intimidated when I have to send to her, but I know she loves nude images, so I chose a nude image for one side and a mermaid for the other. The house is now on it's way to the UK! Enjoy Frieda.

When Moonlight Falls

Our challenge for When Moonlight Falls over at PaperWhimsy was a tall order this trip around.

We had to create a collage using When Moonlight Falls poem included in the awesome collage sheets. We also had to include something that evokes moonlight, for this I had strands of silver running through the yarn I used. Also had to use something that suggests music, so I used a music note brad. We had to include a phrase something on our collage and I went with When Moonlight Falls. A pocket was a must and I decided to use the skirts with the blackbirds for a pocket. Labels or tags had to be included with words on them and at least one other PaperWhimsy image from a previous challenge sheet was to be included and of course at least one Paper Whimsy image from a regular collage sheet. And the rest was up to the individual artist...

When Moonlight Falls

-Hilda Conkling

When moonlight falls on the water

It is like fingers touching the chords of a harp

On a misty day.

When moonlight strikes the water

I cannot get it into my poem:

I only hear the tinkle of ripplings of light.

When I see the water's fingers and the moon's rays

Interwined,

I think of all the words I love to hear,

And try to find words white enough

For such shining...

WOW!!! I can't believe I finally had some time today to do some art. This working is for the birds. It has been at least three weeks since I have created anything and when I pulled my stuff out today I wasn't totally sure I would get anything accomplished. Felt so good to get my quote piece done before the next one arrives.

Playing with Photoshop

I decided to take a photoshop class over at Electic Academy. The first 6 week course is finished and waiting for the next course to start in early July. I have really enjoyed it thus far, but there is so much to take in. I can't believe all the goodies that I have discovered in 6 weeks that PSE7 has to offer, it is amazing. Below is a pic of one of my collages that I played with the saturation and hue on the background and turned the main image into a snapshot, lots of fun. Looking forward to the next course.

Happy Father's Day

Love this sweet picture of my Father when he was a little guy. Check out the clothes, so darned cute. Another year has come and gone since I lost him and I miss him dearly. Would love to be able to spend another Father's Day with him, but it wasn't meant to be.

I miss you so much you could never imagine, all our fun times together and father/daughter talks. I will love you always.

Happy Father's Day to the most awesome Father, ever!

Wishing all the Father's a Happy Father's Day!

Published in Collaborative Art Journals and Shared Visions in Mixed Media

I am jacked to be amongst the talented artists that were published in the Collaborative Art Journals and Shared Visions in Mixed Media by L.K. Ludwig for our Paper Whimsy Alphabet Soup Book and thrilled to be able to share our book with all the talented artists that helped create it. I just received my copy in the mail and it is always great to see your work published.

I chose the letter "F" for my letter because I wanted to use this sweet boy image with the flag. Here is my finished page for the Paper Whimsy Alphabet Soup Collaborative Book.

Lucinda Morse was the creator of this wonderful project on the Paper Whimsy group and she was granted permission from Campbell Soup Company to use their soup label for our original cover, which Lucinda made for the book. It really is one of those special treasure's in art. A special thanks to Lucinda for making this book, truly what it is and all the hard work you put into it.

June Calendar page

WOW!!! Today has been such a gorgeous day, so nice to have great weather. I had to work today, but that is over and done for another day. I actually find it hard to get any artwork done when we are having such great weather, anyone else feel that way?

Wasn't sure what to put up so I went with my June calendar page for next year's calendar.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone.

Happy Postcard Friendship Friday

I can't believe it is Friday! Where does the time go?

I love this postcard that I found at my local antique store. Miss Evelyn Large. It is another birthday greeting. The card is from W&R British Manufacture. It was sent in 1929. I had better get my scanner cleaned as I see red lines on the card that are not suppose to be there. It is in perfect shape and such a beauty.

You can see all the beautiful cards over at Marie's blog here

Happy Friday everyone!
