Teacups & Ribbons

Oh such pretties!

I decided to clean out the bottom of my china cabinet yesterday and came upon oddles of beautiful cups & saucers. They had once belonged to my grandmother and mother. I started thinking how sad it was that we very rarely look at them, and it is even more rare that I would use one. I can remember growing up, they only came out on special occassions and we were never allowed to touch them. How sad! I would love for my daughter and granddaughter to come for a visit and ask if we could have tea in the fancy teacups!

I decided to clean my teacups and take a few pics to share with you. Hope you enjoy!

I am addicted to rolodex cards!

I joined a rolodex card swap on the Paper Whimsy Forum and now that my cards are finished and mailed off I can't stop making these sweet little cards.

Sad, everyone has switched all of their information over to the computer and you don't see many of these sitting around anymore, but if you are out junking and stumble upon one, pick it up, bring it home and alter it. I am going to try and fill mine with more beautiful cards and I will eventually have a continuous wheel of beautiful art.

Can hardly wait for the swap cards to arrive in my mail so I can add those beauties to my wheel.

Playing with Marie

I have seen so many beautiful Marie pieces, I decided to give it a go. I am so used to working with vintage children it is hard for me to change my ways. I made my Marie piece on a 5x7 canvas and decided to attach it to an old book cover that I have had laying around here for ages. I am going to fill the pages inside with Marie work.

Playing with Felt

I have been playing with my felting supplies the last few days. I bought a styrofoam star months ago and finally picked it up to see what I could create. I covered it with different little scraps of material, added my image and felted all around the outside of the star and the image. Added beads at each tip of the star and around her sweet little face. I am still deciding exactly what I am going to do with her, not sure if I will attach a ribbon so she can simply hang in the breeze or if I will come up with a whole new plan for her. Always fun to come up with a plan, feel free to give me any suggestions.

Buttons....

I was messing around in my art space today and wandered upon a jar of some of my fav buttons. I emptied the jar and starting touching, feeling, and yep just plain playing with them. Then my mind started to wander, where have these buttons been, what pretties had they been sewn on, whose teeny, tiny fingers had touched them! I wonder, did they come from someone's favorite dress, or did they come from an old jar full of buttons. Did they use to be my Grandmother's buttons, maybe my Mother's. It is all a wonder, but isn't it wonderful that we can have these wonderful things in our collections to make our minds wander. So the next time you all get your buttons out to play with, remember it is fun to wonder, where did they come from?

The Key to My Mind

Every other week over at the Paper Whimsy Forum http://www.paperwhimsy.com/forum/
Gale is doing a Hilda Conkling Quote Challenge. Be sure to check it out and come over and play!
The challenge is that Gale will send out a digital collage sheet ( they are just gorgeous ) that has a Hilda Conkling poem and great images that she challenges us to incorporate into our collage. She also sends out the rules of the road for each poem. I am having a great time playing with these challenges. Lots of fun! The photo above is what I came up with for The Key to My Mind. After we create are artwork we have to load it up on the forum so we can play the next challenge, most of us are making are challenges into a book.

I have been playing with my new blog for a few days now. I gave up blogging for awhile and decided it was time to get back into it. I contacted Michelle at Shabby Creations and had her create this beautiful blog for me. It was just awesome to work with her and I love what she created for me. So here we go with my first post. Hope you enjoy the blog as much as I do.
